Yea, that's the problem, when i took it to the dealer 3 years ago for fuel cap on warranty, they did something else. The car is now past the warranty (46k miles and older than 3 years), and I might be able to get this done for free since there was a recall for faulty VSA modules, but I still wanted to troubleshoot this myself out of curiosity. When I start the car, there is no errors or blinking lights on the dashboard, only when I try to engage it. The brake is released and I can drive the car, but it doesn't want to engage when I pull up the button. I have used it on daily basis since I bought the car (2016 civic EX, 2.0, CVT) and yesterday it threw an alarm on the dashboard "Electric Parking Brake Problem". I am asking because yesterday my parking brake didn't work for the first time ever. Would an OBD reader from autozone, oreailly etc, that you can rent for free also read DTCs? What is that? I thoguht all would be needed is a simple cable that will run between the OBD2 outlet and your laptop. I imagine they let you download a software and install it on your laptop, but they also list that a Denso DST-i is required. Does anyone have experience using HDS? On, there is an option to buy a 1 day subscription of HDS.
